The funeral for the late Verner Deroy Irving will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at David Williams Funeral Service located at 108-20 Sutphin Blvd, Jamaica, NY 11435. The viewing will be held from 9am-10am, followed by the funeral service at 10am. He will be laid to rest in Farmingdale, New York, USA. Please give your condolences to the Irving family.

Special Info Verner Deroy Irving (affectionately known as Gene), our beloved family patriarch, passed away peacefully on June 24th, 2026, at the age of 81. He lived a life dedicated to the love and care of his family, friends, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Born in Westmoreland, Jamaica on June 13th 1945, to James Alexander Irving and Mavis Grenetta Clarke. He went on to marry the love of his life Jennifer Irving, on June 14th, 1969. Their union was blessed with six children in Jamaica: Andrew, Gary, Dwight, Suzette, Denver, and Adella. In 1978 the family migrated to The United States where their final daughter Faith was born, and where he lived out the rest of his life.

He will be remembered for his kindness, humility, unwavering love, support and generosity to his loved ones. His love of sports and classic western movies; His love of art, music and dance. And his infectious laugh.

He is survived by five of his children: Andrew, Gary, Dwight, Suzette and Faith. Three sisters, Beverly, Vivenne and Ricky. Seven grandchildren: Gary, Amanda, Teyana, Johnathan, Michael, Kendu and Afrikah. And two great grandchildren: Aurora and Ajaxx. As well as his daughter in law Haidy, his granddaughter in law Erica, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Jennifer, and his two children Denver and Adella.

His memory will forever live on and be treasured by the family he loved, cared for and cherished so deeply.

as i begin to look for the right words to express my thoughts about my cousin and my adopted brother i can remember the many meaningful roles that he played through-out his life.he was a family man who loved his family deeply. he was a devoted husband, son, uncle, brother, and friend i am so grateful that i was able to be a part of his life i am going to miss the talks and quiet moments we had. genie you will be remembered by those of us still left behind and whose lives you've touched.
