Special Info

George Edward Cole Durant With profound sadness and hearts full of love, we announce the peaceful transition of George Edward Cole Durant, who departed this earthly life on April 12th. Though his presence will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing that he lived a life rooted in faith, defined by love, and marked by an extraordinary kindness that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. George was born on April 12th in the beautiful port city of Wilmington, North Carolina, to the late Sadie and Willie Durant. The youngest child in his family, George carried with him the warmth and spirit of his upbringing as he was educated through the New York City public school system, where the foundation of the remarkable man he would become was laid. Those who knew George knew that his passions ran deep. A man of sharp intellect and quiet discipline, he was an accomplished chess player whose strategic mind commanded the respect of all who dared sit across the board from him. He was equally dedicated to the art of karate, earning a black belt — a testament to his commitment, perseverance, and strength of character. George was preceded in death by his beloved mother, father, and oldest brother. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted son Duval, 13 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren — the greatest reflections of his enduring legacy — as well as a treasured host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives were forever enriched by his presence. George Edward Cole Durant — a man of faith, a gentle warrior, and a loving soul. May he rest in eternal peace.
