The funeral for the late John C. Cobbs will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Rush Temple A.M.E Zion Church located at 119-48 Sutphin Blvd, Rochdale, NY 11434. The viewing will be held from 11am-12pm followed by the funeral service at 12pm. Please give your condolences to the Cobbs family.

Today we celebrate the life of John C. Cobbs. On March 23rd God called John C. Cobbs to his eternal rest.
John was born on June 4, 1955, in Chatham, Virginia. He was the only child of his mother, Mary Callie Cobbs. John's life was filled with family values, love and joy that his mother installed in him.
During John's early adulthood, he explored talents in acting, drama and plays which landed him in a Broadway play. He attended MT. Vernon High School and further matriculated two years of college credits.
While working at Woolworth's department store in 1984, he met the love of his life Cynthia B. Steven's. John courted her for a couple of years and in December of 1988 he made her his wife.
Through his hard work and dedication, John landed a job at Mt. Sinai Hospital as a patient transporter in Labor and Delivery. After twenty-six years of service at Mt. Sinai Hospital, John finally retired in 2017 and spent the remainder of his time with his Love, Cynthia.
Through his marriage to Cynthia, he gained five children, Archie Lee Aarington, (Pre-deceased) Anthony Aarington, Renee Nicholson (Aarington), Michele Richardson and Joshua Aarington. From his children, he has six grandchildren and one great-grand. Patricia, DeNasia, Lavaughn, Anthony, Noah and Aiden. One great-grand child, Jahna. John also shared his love with his son-in-laws, Anthony Nicholson, Patrick Richardson and grandson-in-law, John C. Latham. His daughter-in-law (Pre-deceased) Charmaine Aarington and Lashanna Gaither (Aarington).
John had the pleasure of sharing his life with a host of family and friends and close acquaintances, Dr. Daniel Saltzman, Dr. Arthur Kennish, and Dr. Joseph Levy.
The family wishes to thank everyone for all the love and support provided to John throughout the years of his life.
