Celebrating the Life Angela Augustine
Today we gather with heavy hearts, but also with deep gratitude, to celebrate the life of our dear sister, mother, and friend—Angela Augustine, also known to many as Jane. While we mourn her passing, we also give thanks for memories she leaves behind.
Angela was born on January 21, 1961, in Glanvillia in the Commonwealth of Dominica to her loving parents, Catherine and Deloise Augustine. Growing up on the island helped shape the warmth and spirit that so many of us came to know and love.
In 1979, Angela immigrated to the United States in search of opportunity and a better future. She attended Brooklyn Learning Academy. Throughout her life she held various jobs, including working as a home health aide, always doing what she could to support herself and those she loved the best that she could.
Angela passed away at her Brooklyn residence on March 2, 2026, at the age of 65. Just weeks earlier, she celebrated her birthday with her twin sister, Felicia—also known as Angelina—and other family members. It was a joyful occasion. She danced to her favorite reggae music, enjoyed cutting her cake, and shared laughter and moments that will now be cherished memories for those who were there.
Above all else, Angela loved her family. She was a devoted mother to her three sons—Jeromy, Jerome, and Joshua Augustine. They were the center of her world and her greatest pride and joy. Although illness made life difficult for her most of the time, she never stopped loving them or hoping for better days for her children.
Angela is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: Orbin, Sonia, Franklyn, her twin sister Angelina, and Althia. The bond she shared with her brothers and sisters was strong and lasting. She also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins, and relatives too numerous to mention—each one holding a special place in her heart.
Angela was a quiet person who did not always say much. But those who knew her understood her spirit. And if you ever heard her raising her voice, you knew she was truly upset and that someone was in trouble. In her own quiet ways, she showed love through her presence and the way she cared for the people around her.
She had a deep appreciation for life's simple joys. Angela loved shopping, putting on her makeup—especially her lipstick(sometimes not properly applied…..but she didn't care for appearance)—and dancing to reggae music. Music and dancing always brought her happiness. She also loved good food and the way it could bring people together.
Holidays were especially meaningful to her. Christmas and Thanksgiving were times when her heart felt most contentedwhen family gathering was full of laughter, stories, music, andgood food.
Today, while our hearts ache in her absence, we take comfort in knowing that she will continue to live on through her children, her family, and the many people who truly knew her. The memories we shared with her will remain with us always.
Angela will be greatly missed, and she will never be forgotten.
