Uriel “Clive” Smith passed away in his home in Queens, New York, on
September 19, 2023, at the age of 78.
Uriel was born to Elijah Smith and Miriam Palmer on April 13, 1945, in St.
Catherine, Jamaica, where he attended Mount Nebo Primary School.
Soon after leaving school, he went into farming. After working as a farmer
for many years he moved to Kingston, Jamaica where he worked as a
Porter at Kingston Public Hospital. He immigrated to the US in the early
1980s where he held a few jobs until he started working at a nursing home
as a Dietary Aide until he retired in 2014.
Uriel is predeceased by his brothers Clifford, George, and Vincent, and his
sisters Enied and Lurline.
He is survived by his daughter Juliet, his son Barrington, his brother Lloyd,
and his sisters Linda and Melissa. As well as his four grandchildren
Chevaughn, Mikaila, Justin, and Khimora, and many nieces and nephews.
Uriel was a caring father, helpful to those who needed it. He enjoyed
cooking and baking as well as a good game of dominoes and ludi. He will
be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew him.
